The story behind the celebration of Valentine’s Day:

It is the story of an encounter between a cruel king and a compassionate saint. It begins in the third century of Rome, where there was a tyrannical king named Claudius.

The King of Rome believed that a single soldier could be a better and more effective soldier for war than a married soldier because the married soldier always worried about his family after he died. What will happen is that he is unable to concentrate fully in the battle.

Thinking of this, Claudius king announced that no soldiers in his kingdom would marry and that anyone who violated his orders would get punished severely.

All the soldiers were unhappy with this decision of the king and knew that this decision is wrong. No one dared to violate it due to the fear of the king. They all had been helpless to follow the order of that cruel king.

This atrocity was not acceptable to Saint Valentine of Rome. He decided to help those young soldiers who want to marry with their love.

Saint Valentine used to help needed soldiers. This time Saint Valentine helped soldiers to get married secretly with their loved ones.

But the truth could not be able to hide for a long time. For some reason or the other, it comes out in the same way. In the same way, Claudius was aware of this act of Valentines that Valentine did not obey the orders of the king.

The Romans said that Saint Valentine had a divine power that he can make people free from diseases.

The jailer Asterius had a daughter who was blind, and that jailer also knew that Saint Valentine had has such divine power through which he can free the diseases of the people.

The jailer went to prison to meet Saint Valentine. He begged in front of him and told him that his daughter could not see him. So please, with the help of your divine power, return my daughter’s eyesight.

Saint Valentine was a very good-hearted person, and he also helped everyone so, he did not refuse the jailer. He decided to help him and healed his daughter’s eyes with his divine power.
